Why there is no cookie banner

You have not been asked to accept anything, and that is deliberate. What Dutch and European law require consent for is the storing or reading of information on your own device for purposes that are not strictly necessary: analytics, advertising, profiling, anything that follows you. This site stores nothing on your device for any of those purposes. We do count how often each page is read, but with a method that places nothing in your browser at all, so there is still nothing to ask you about. A banner would only create the impression that something is being collected.

What this site does not place

• No analytics cookies. No Google Analytics, no Matomo. Visits are counted, but without placing anything in your browser (see below).
• No advertising or remarketing cookies, and no social media pixels.
• No profiling and no cross-site tracking.
• No third-party fonts, embedded videos or maps. Every file is served from our own domain, with two exceptions, both described below: the security check on the forms, and the counter.

Counting visits without cookies

We would like to know which pages are read and which are ignored. The usual way to find that out is a cookie that recognises you on your next visit. We do not do that. Cloudflare Web Analytics registers the page, the site you arrived from, the country, and the type of browser and device, and adds them to a total. Nothing is written to your browser, you are given no identifier, and there is nothing that could link this visit to your next one, or to your visit to any other website.

Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, this needs no consent, and that is why there is no banner. Cloudflare processes it on our instructions as a processor, under the same agreement that covers the hosting of this site.

The security check on the forms

When you submit a form, it is checked by Cloudflare Turnstile to establish that you are a person and not an automated script. Completing that check may place a short-lived cookie or a comparable local value in your browser. It exists only to confirm that the check has been passed, so that a legitimate submission is not blocked or repeated.

This is a strictly necessary cookie for a service you asked for by submitting the form. It carries no identifier used to recognise you across websites, it is not used for advertising, and it does not require your consent. If you never use a form, it never appears.

Local storage

Some pages remember a small amount of state inside your own browser, which tab you had open, for instance. That information stays on your device, is not sent to us, and is not readable by any other website.

Controlling cookies yourself

Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings. Blocking them will not break this site, with one consequence: if you block the cookie belonging to the security check, the forms may refuse your submission.

Changes

If this site ever starts using cookies that do require consent, this page changes first, and you will be asked before anything is placed.
